Barry Rassin earned an MBA in health and hospital administration from the University of Florida, and is the first fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives in the Bahamas. He recently retired after 37 years as president of Doctors Hospital Health System and continues as an adviser. He is a lifetime member of the American Hospital Association and has served on several boards, including the Quality Council of the Bahamas, Health Education Council, and Employer’s Confederation.

A Rotarian since 1980, Rassin has served Rotary as director and is vice chair of The Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees. He was an RI training leader and the aide to 2015-16 RI President K.R. Ravindran.

Rassin received Rotary's highest honor, the Service Above Self Award, as well as other humanitarian awards for his work leading Rotary’s relief efforts in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake there. He and his wife, Esther, are Major Donors and Benefactors of The Rotary Foundation.

Profile Description    

He likes - constant activity, coming first, exciting challenges, championing causes and spontaneity – that’s an Arian Trait. He was born on the 28th of March, 1965

He did his junior school at Breeks, Ooty, Senior School at Rex, Ooty and the higher secondary at Montfort School, Yercaud. He graduated from the St Joseph’s College, Trichy. While at school he was in the NCC and at college he was in the NSS and a keen Rotaractor.


He is the Managing Partner of Gopinath Enterprises dealing in Industrial Products.

He is in business for the last 20 years. He won the “OPTIMUS AWARD” and was recognized by L & T for the outstanding performance last year. He also handles the family business of Insurance.


He is an active member of Rotary West Coimbatore, which is celebrating its Golden jubilee this year. He was the Chairman of the Book fair in 2006-07, was the President in 2007-08, he Chaired the Pre Pets in 2007-08; He was awarded the RI citation when he was president . He was the GGR In 2009-10. he was the Zonal Chairman Vocational service in 2011. He was the Assistant Governor for the year 2012-13 and was awarded the outstanding AG of the region. He was appointed as the RFRC for the year 2013-14. He chaired the Membership Development District Seminar "Vridhhi".

He Chaired the Cycle Rally and also took part in cycling the 330 km for End Polio from Coimbatore to Cochin with 30 cyclists for three days covering 50000 people across the district 3201, distributing pamphlets about Rotary. This was a very huge public image project of the District 3201 covered well by all media.

He chaired the RI PRIORITIES District seminar in 2014. He was the Zonal chair for the Conference 'Thejus 2015'. He was the Chairman for the District for the new national focus - "The SWACHH Bharath".and has conducted clean town campaigns.

He has attended Rotary International conventions at Portugal Sydney Brazil and Korea where he served as the Sergeant at arms .


The Avenues of Service Award from the Rotary International is one among the several awards which he cherishes .

Their house won the Best Garden in the Flower show organized by Agri University and Rotary Uptown.

Their home also won the Eco friendly home Award from RAAC and British Council.

His special interests are going on Nature Camps and Treks, organizing Game Shows, Gardening and Landscaping. He is a part of the Wildlife Association and the Science and Adventure Club. And a Life member of the hundred year old Nilgiri Library .


His father Rtn MPHF Ramasubramanian is a Chartered Accountant in Ooty and a member of the Rotary Club of Ootacamund

His mother PHF Vimala is a Past president of the Inner Wheel Ootacamund

His wife and friend Veena Pathy is the District Chairman of the Inner Wheel District 320. Veena and Pathy, regularly contribute to the Rotary Foundation and are both Major Donors.

They have two sons - Nishok is doing his Architecture and Roshan is doing his B Com

They are good mountaineers.

They scale the Himalayas every summer and are Rylarians. They were invited to the Rashtrapathi Bhavan by our former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and were appreciated for the spirit of adventure.

Rtn A V Pathy has been selected as the governor nominee for 16-17 and district Governor for the year 2018-19

He was conferred Doctorate on Holistic Management by

The Commonwealth Vocational University at Singapore.

12th January 2019 was a landmark day for RC Cochin Airport and RC Coimbatore Spectrum. We had a joint family meeting at Coimbatore hosted by RC Coimbatore Spectrum at Geetha Farms. The theme of the meeting was Pongal. All The Rotarians were in mundu and shirts and the Anns in Sarees. Both the Presidents were coolored and after the formal meeting where 2 new members were inducted into the RC Coimbatore Spectrum, the floor was taken over by the Rotarians and Anns for variety entertainments. The food was authentic Chettinad dishes and the climate though little cool, was not felt due to the warmth and camraderie of the fellowship. The Party went on till 12.00 AM and enjoyed by one and all. Fellowship at its Best.. The lasting friendship exchanged by both clubs will last for ever..
